Three web marketing techniques

Three web marketing techniques, including display media advertising

1 display media advertising(dma's) also known as those ads that appear when your on the internet. generally dma's are of three types - banner ads, video ads and interstitial ads.

banner ads - are ads that roll out like banners on a webpage, they tend to be vertical or horizontal rectangles with some form of visual attention seeking advert inside.
video ads - they are small videos that try to grab your attention or sell you on a product - for example on youtube.com you will usually find this kind of ad - before/after the content your watching or during midrolls. video ads can range between 5 seconds to well any time - generally though you want to get your audience's attention then leave so its not invasive and boring to the audience.
interstitial ads - ever been on a website and then been redirected before you got to your desired page? this is probably a interstitial ad, they tend to grab your attention by visually taking over the screen space, they tend to have x''s at one of the corners to exit to go to the content you were originally going to. if you make these ads PLEASE, make the x's easy to click - its annoying to have clicked it and find you have clicked the ad instead as the x was super tiny or difficult to hit.

2 content marketing. these tend to be side stories or behind the scenes extra content that can affect the game or give detail that has no effect on the game. for example - you could have a character's backstory and show different characters like their family or enemies. another example could be an in-game ad for an item - outside of the game, this probably doesn't interest too many people, but using in game things in the advertising can interest and immerse the audience in the world of the game.

3  in my previous post "digital marketing is important because..." i mention SEO. SEO is a marketing technique that's pretty useful for crosspollination with your other projects.
for example, if you have previous games with similar game aspects - like making multiple 2d side scroller games. you could use SEO as a way to connect the 2 games. so when an audience member sees one or plays it a bunch the other is shown off to the side in recommended sections.
this allows for the potential of it being played being raised a small amount, depending on how many games you are crosspollinating - the more you crossover the longer the list of possible games played by your player - though this can seem great it can make some lesser known games be hidden under the pile, so selective crosspollination is a good idea.
