Three social media marketing channels and techniques, including viral marketing

Three social media marketing channels and techniques. (viral marketing, hashtags and post timing).

Viral marketing is Intended to be about getting attention for your product in a positive way HOWEVER it should also be factored in that it works both ways. Its like lighting a beacon whilst on a port - yes you will attract some ships (lets with good sailors and tradesmen) but you also attract the bad ships (lets say nasty pirates that want to destroy your beacon or use it maliciously to crash the sailors).
Viral marketing has to be carefully considered and is time based. A common sub-part to Viral marketing is "Hype". i.e. getting your audience excited for a product so they are more likely to buy it. Hype is also a double edged sword as IF you deliver on time with your product it can sell well but then can be taken by reviewers. Their opinions can sway others in multiple ways, good, bad, neutral etc.
However IF you do NOT deliver on time some people will lose interest in the product or may drop it entirely as the hype dies down the potential sales can also go down.

Personally I think Hype is a bad idea, it can drag the good to your product but it can also have a super negative effect, most commonly seen through social media comments and mental welfare analysis. Generally I think people should be Content with their content, If you want to make something go make it, you don't have to sell it. If you want to sell it, then do it your way - make sure its legal, its fair and try to keep it interesting to YOU. Otherwise people tend to get "burn out" or disinterest in their own things - which I think can be kinda sad.

One way viral marketing commonly works is by using meme formats. Usually memes are used in a social way to have fun together or take the mick / make fun of something. Memes can be good and bad - as they are social tool, it depends on how its used. Some of them can be Good and be used to make other good things, whilst others can be misused and become bad.
A good example is different #hashtags being used to celebrate and develop communities. What these communities do is up to them, where they use them will probably have rules they have to follow but usually can have a positive impact.
I would air on the side of caution as some can seem good but have other parts that are bad, so generally I would be careful what things people use them for - i.e. always do your research - some things start with good intentions but can later develop into others so always double check the current version of any hashtag used and see if it has any crossover with other products/projects or developing situations.

It is advisable if you are going to do a big launch of a product - say you have  big new game you want to make a special launch for -  that each of the places you want to advertise do so together. This gives an idea that these are all official places connected to the game, but also give the widest chance someone will see the new update/launch. This is also why when you look at large events like E3, you will see the companies doing crossover discussions as they have more eyes on their products than normal. This peters out over time but it generally gives a large impact that needs to be thought about before it happens.
For example if your game has online play, be prepared for a lot of players, first day access tends to have a tidal wave of excited players ready to play but not all of them will jump in head first - some will be slower and take their time (which is advisable - first day sales are good for business but not great for the consumer - there is the notorious first day patch after all.)
