The use of target market research

The use of demographic and psychographic tools is vital when developing a game for your target market.

Your target market is the range of customers You are aiming to sell your game to.
This can be based on psychographics and demographics - a series of information tools about the desired market.

"Demographics explain 'who' your buyer is, while psychographics explain 'why' they buy."(Meredith, 2021)

A demographic could tell you a customer's age range (lets say  mid 30's), their gender (lets say female), and what do they do as a job (lets say a plumber).

Whilst a psychographic will tell you about the person and their thinking.
For example if your psychographic mentioned the target market likes animals, you may carefully consider animals or animal welfare in your game. Another example might tell you the target market likes "Summer holidays" and "Swimming". You may build around these details thematically in the game - for example making "a beach holiday spending time with a dog".

Now you know far more about your target customer.
- They are a female plumber in their 30's , who enjoys summer holidays swimming whilst looking after animals.

This gives us a lot of information to help build the game and later develop the best outcomes to your customers interests.
